Hui-Wen Teng
鄧惠文

Hui-Wen Teng (鄧惠文)  is a psychiatrist,  Jungian analyst, writer and radio host. For many years, her main focus had been women’s physical and psychological issues but also worked as a pediatric psychiatrist. There, she witnessed firsthand how challenging taking care of children can be. She later pursued a master’s degree in medicine and gender studies and discovered her true calling in gender or cultural psychotherapy. She continued her studies in the UK with a focus on  analytical psychology and couples therapy and became a certified Jungian analyst. In recent years, she is dedicated to individual and couples analytical therapy, while exploring different ways to bridge psychology with the public discourse. Unexpectedly, she became a mother and now hopes to grow together with her child, learning with her child through picture books.

Works

Recommended by the ex-president of the International Association for Analytical Psychology Toshio Kawai   “Did you bring your coat?”. “Eat your Vegetables”. ”Don’t run!". “Put your toys away”.  "Don’t fight with your friends”. “Go to bed!”. My mother nags so much I can’t stand it anymore! I am going to turn her into a duck and all she will be able to say is “quack, quack, quack”!!   But...she can’t read me bedtime stories and she can’t take me to school. And then...I began to understand her quacking. And then, my dad started to nag...Is this really better than before? Did I really win?   How should parents handle the challenges ? And how do children learn to see their parent’s authority as an expression of love and concern? I Turned My Mom into a Duck! is a cute and imaginative exploration of the “power struggle” between parent and child.
