17歲的朱莉原本都規劃好她的未來，她想和男友山姆搬離埃倫斯堡這個小鎮，搬到大城市讀大學，暑假的時候兩人還約定要一起去日本。
有一天朱莉從西雅圖拜訪家人回埃倫斯堡，參加營火晚會的山姆忘了要去車站載朱莉。當他接到朱莉氣沖沖的電話，他急急忙忙開車離開。
然而在公路上一輛逆向行駛的卡車造成山姆的車子翻覆，山姆並沒有死於車禍，內疚的他拖著受傷的身驅離開了駕駛座，硬是在十號公路上走了一英哩才因為失血過多倒下，最後死於衰竭。
心碎的朱莉沒參加男友山姆的葬禮，她把所有山姆的東西丟掉，試圖忘記他以及他死亡的原因是因為想和朱莉合好。
有一天朱莉在整理山姆遺物的時候看到他在畢業紀念冊裡真誠感性的留言「不管發生什麼事，答應我你永遠不會忘記我，好嗎? 我愛妳朱莉，我會一直愛妳。」
思念男友的朱莉決定打最後一次山姆的手機聽他的留言語音，但她萬萬沒想到，竟然聽到「喂? 我是山姆」。
這是朱莉能與山姆正式告別的第二次機會。冥冥之中她與山姆的連結讓她能夠透過電話繼續溝通。
但是隨著每一次的電話，朱莉心裡充滿更多的罪惡感，山姆的家人該多麼想和山姆也說上一句話，朱莉得做出選擇是否冒著永遠失去和山姆透過電話聯絡，把事情的真象公開……。
作者介紹
作者達斯汀‧草(Dustin Thao)是住在芝加哥的越南裔美國作家，大學畢業於阿默斯特學院(Amherst College)政治科學系，目前在西北大學(Northwestern University)攻讀博士學位。達斯汀‧草寫現代小說，他的第一本小說作品《喂? 我是山姆》(You’ve Reached Sam)將於2021年11月2日由麥米倫出版集團旗下Wednesday Books出版。
