Pan Chia-Hsin (潘家欣) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose work spans both words and images. She has received numerous literary honors, including the Lin Rung-San Literary Award and the Yang Mu Poetry Award. Her publications include eight poetry collections and the essay collection. She has also illustrated several books, including The Crab in the Dark, Tiger Aunt, and Children's Broadcasting Station: A Reader of Taiwanese Nursery Rhymes from the Japanese Colonial Period, Vol. 2.

One day after school, a boy returns home to find that his mother has disappeared. His little sister, busy playing with her toys, has no idea where she has gone. When darkness falls and their mother still has not returned, the siblings set out to search for her. After visiting all her usual places without success, they stumble upon a mysterious shop: a shop that sells mothers. Could their own mother be inside?
Mommy for Sale is an imaginative parent-child story, blending humor, suspense, and fantasy. Author Pan takes readers on a brother and sister’s search for their missing mother, and into a startling confrontation between children’s expectations and a mother’s desire to be herself. Illustrator Lin vividly captures the characters’ shifting emotions through richly layered compositions, comic-style panels, dramatic close-ups, and contrasts in scale.
