Mr. Darcy built his dream home on a pink tree in the forest and lives a quiet life every day. One day, there is an uninvited guest in the forest... A Tree Falls in the Forest is the latest work from Lian-En Lin, the winner of the 45th Golden Tripod Award and the 2021 Ragazzi Award in fiction.
What is “evil”? What is "good”? Darkness may exist anywhere in the world. Are we aware of it? Or maybe we just ignore it because the uninvited guests seem to be far away from us? In the past, Lian-En Lin was a person who didn’t care about social trends or issues, and only focused on her creations, just like Mr. Darcy or anyone else around us, living her own “quiet life” in solitude. However, after Lian-En became a mom, she started to change her mind, and began to pay attention to her surroundings and current affairs, hoping to leave a better world for her children to live in in the future.

Lin Lian-En (林廉恩), born and raised in Taiwan. She worked as a character and art designer for an animation studio for over a year and has been drawing ever since leaving the studio. She specializes in creating with acrylic, water soluble crayons, and collages and likes drawing cities, monsters and plants. Her works are mostly about her current feelings and her life experiences. She won the American 3x3 Contemporary Award in 2014, Bologna Children Illustration Award in 2015 and 2018. She has also won the Bologna Ragazzi Award – Fiction Award for her picture book Home in 2021, becoming the first Taiwanese work to win the award. The picture book went on to win multiple domestic and international book awards, including the 2021 Golden Tripod Award and the 2021 TiBE Book Prize.
