The school teacher asked us to line up by two.
All the pupils take their friend's hands.
Me, I stay alone. I know nobody, because last year, I was at the
kinder-garden in another neighbourhood.

Next to me, another pupil is alone. He comes and takes my hand.
Here we are, in two lines. We can come in the classroom.

When we all are seated, the school teacher introduces herself. Her name is
Mrs Moinot. She writes her name on the board… Well, so I suppose because I
cannot read. (On the board is written : Monday 14 September 1970).

The school teacher asks us our names and our parents' professions. One
after another, pupils answer and the school teacher writes down in a big
notebook.
I start sweating in my socks. I do no want my time to arrive. I want the
time to stop. I want to go away !
I am red, It's so warm I cannot breath. What will I answer about my Mum's
job ? It buzzes in my ears and my temples hurt. It's already my neighbour'
s turn !
His name is Alain…
His Mum is a nurse and his Dad paints toy soldiers.
